Europe’s market leader in the aparthotel industry, Adagio is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and opening eleven new aparthotels across five continents, including sub-Saharan Africa for the first time. New destinations include Abidjan Marcory in the Ivory Coast, Rome in Italy, Whitechapel in London and Heidelberg in Germany.

With over 120 locations Adagio Aparthotels is the largest provider of aparthotel accommodation in Europe. The expansion follows Adagio’s recent rebrand which unveiled a contemporary, vibrant new look and feel designed to entice modern travellers looking for a flexible yet trendy place to stay a while.

Adagio’s rebrand has been created by branding agency Saguez & Partners who aimed to transform the brand by creating impact, meaning and uniqueness through a modern new look and feel.

The agency took inspiration from artists renowned for their bold use of colour including Matisse and David Hockney. The colour palate features bright shades of orange, turquoise, pale pink, purple and black alongside the brand’s existing signature red.

The focal point of the rebrand is the new Creative City Map – a colourful, bold design which represents the modern city landscape within which Adagio properties are located.

The design puts Adagio at the heart of the city’s energy and amplifies the brand’s potential with a positive, enthusiastic, creative and lively space

Properties are mostly located in the heart of a city and range from self-catering to serviced apartments. The concept encompasses the idea that you can stay in a different town yet feel at home. It suits long-term travellers, both business travellers and tourists who don’t want to fork out to eat in restaurants every night.

So what can you expect from an Adagio apartment?

Adagio apartments have a contemporary design often in bold bright colours and are often located right in the middle of a city, close to restaurants, shopping and transport links so you get the full city experience. So, for professionals looking to stay a few weeks or months, this means everything is to hand and everywhere is easy to get to.

They are family-friendly and pet-friendly too, a boon for those who are travelling with their pets and a stay in an aparthotel means costs are more manageable so you have more to spend on enjoying the city. A fully equipped kitchen complete with a fridge means you can go food shopping locally and cook your favourite meals yourself.

Yet you are not alone as these are serviced apartments. The concept is a home-from-home for “temporary” living if you like. A place that feels like a comfortable flat, with plenty of storage, comfortable furniture and beds enhanced by the luxury of hotel-style service. You can expect maid service, laundry and a 24-hour front desk.

Breakfast is served every day offering a toast bar with jams, various kinds of cheese and cured meats and a range of bread and eggs, a bowl bar, granolas, organic soft cream cheese and fruit (dried and fresh). There’s also a drinks bar of freshly pressed fruit smoothies and fresh fruit juice, hot drinks including a selection of teas and coffees. There’s even a sweet bar with sweet and savoury cakes, soft brioches and mini pastries.

At the reception area, friendly dedicated staff are able to give local tips and guidance on where to explore and dine out locally.

There’s also a community aspect to Adagio. Each Aparthotel organises events and theme nights several times a week, such as dinners (Dinners@Adagio), which all guests can attend.

What are the categories of Adagio accommodation?

There are three styles: Adagio Access – the most affordable, Adagio Original and Adagio Premium – the exceptional Adagio.

Adagio Access is the most affordable property, a studio apartment which can sleep up to two people. These are often located on the rim of the city centre yet close to transport links. They come with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen tv, a full kitchen and a sofa bed which can be used as a stylish seating option during the day and as a full-size double bed at night.

Adagio Premium offers the height of luxury in terms of space – up to three rooms that can sleep up to four people,  comfort and location.

Everyone has access to the fitness room (most have a gym) and co-working space and the mini in-house supermarket for those last-minute essentials.

Uniquely there is an Object Library where you can borrow items to customise your accommodation for the time of your stay, to make it feel at home.

Karine Eisenchteter Léothier, Director of Strategy and Innovation Saguez & Partners says:

“We have revealed a powerful, modern and light brand. We are very happy with the result, which lives up to our common ambition: to reveal the brand’s potential, to change the perception of Adagio by placing it in a modern context with a rich and lively territory.”

Whichever style you choose staying in an Adagio apartment is an ideal solution for those times when you want flexibility – both independence and total autonomy or with service combined, as well as a caring team to support you during your stay.

About Adagio

The company, Adagio, was founded in France in 2007 as a joint venture between Accor and Pierre & Vacances Centre Parcs to offer a good value, yet comfortable place to stay for those in town for an extended stay. They kicked off with 16 apartments in two countries but now have more than 120 all over Europe, and further afield such as Qatar and Brazil. They aim to increase this to 200 by the end of 2024.
