The “Sky Pool” is destined to appear in London’s skyline in the summer of 2019 as part of the £15bn luxury property development – the Embassy Gardens at Nine Elms – in West London adjacent to the new US Embassy on the South Bank. The first phase of Embassy Gardens sold out within a weekend some three years ago.

The second phase of the development project will create 179 suites, 1, 2, 3 bed apartments and a penthouse.  Ultimately there will be 2,000 new homes in this landmark development effectively creating a new community living within landscaped gardens, a riverfront walk threading between Embassy Gardens to Battersea Park, a boutique hotel and vibrant new bars and restaurants providing a variety of al fresco spaces and 130,000 ft² of shopping space.

The suspended Sky Pool will link two 10-storey towers on the tenth floor. It is the first of its kind in the world. Entirely transparent and structure free, the pool allows residents to swim from one building to the other and will allow swimmers to peer downwards through the transparent bottom (made from acrylic).

The pool connects the Legacy Building to the EG:LE club; the exclusive private members club for residents of Embassy Gardens. Along with the Sky Deck, EG:LE club includes a private gym and yoga studio, a boxing ring, a private cinema called The Maureen O’Hara and a traditional private library and lounge area named after the Irish playwright The John B. Keane.

However, to use this 25m swimming pool you will need to be a resident and this means splashing out from £602,000 upwards to buy home in the development.

After a few laps, swimmers can relax on the sky deck, in the spa or in the summer bar and Orangery while enjoying views over London and the Houses of Parliament.
